3 Twitter Clients For Linux

Do you follow people on Twitter? Without a doubt. Do you use a web browser to access Twitter in order to receive notifications? Yes. Then you’re missing out on some great apps that offer the same features as the web Twitter client. There are numerous Twitter clients for Linux that send desktop notifications whenever something happens on Twitter. I’m putting together a list of three Twitter clients for Linux that you’ll find very useful.

To begin with, there are many applications that allow you to use Twitter without opening a web browser, so if you use any other app than the three listed below, please share it with us in the comments section below this article. There could be a variety of reasons for using the Twitter client on your Linux system, such as not wanting to polish the login and log out buttons. But the main reason is that if you can get notifications, read new messages, and tweet posts without opening a browser, why not use a client application? That’s fantastic! Isn’t that right? So let us begin with the third item on our list –

3. Turpial Twitter Client For Linux

Turpial is a simple and user-friendly Twitter client for Linux. Turpial is written in Python and distributed under the GNU General Public License version 3. It is simple to install and configure in a variety of distributions, including Ubuntu, Fedora, and Debian. You can skip ahead to the installation section. Turpial 3.0 has been updated with fixes, and new features. So 3.0 is even better, more stable, and has more features.

Turpial is simple to use and configure; here’s how to install and configure Turpial –

How To Install Turpial?

Turpial is already in the official Ubuntu repository, so you can install it directly using Software Center or Terminal, but if it isn’t or is removed in the future, you can add the Turpial PPA and install Turpial in Ubuntu.

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:effie-jayx/turpial
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install turpial

Note: Firstly try to install Turpial without adding PPA if it’s not available in the official repository then add PPA.

Install Turpial Twitter Client In Debian

Available for SidJessie and Wheezy Backports. You just need to execute as root: aptitude install turpial

Install Turpial Twitter Client In Fedora

Execute the following command as root – yum install turpial Any other Linux distributions click here.

2. Birdie Twitter Client For Linux

Birdie is yet another straightforward, feature-rich, and user-friendly Twitter client for Linux. If you want to use multiple accounts, you don’t want to forget about Birdie. With Birdie, you can log into as many accounts as you want without wasting time. Birdie works seamlessly with the majority of modern GNU/Linux desktop environments. You receive desktop notifications whenever someone messages, tweets, retweets, or engages in any other activity. You are always up to date on what is going on.

One thing you might not like about Birdie is that it does not have a repository. You must install it by downloading the.deb file from the Birdie website. Although they provide instructions on how to install Birdie on various operating systems, whenever Birdie receives an update, you must manually update it (which is inconvenient).

Birdie development was halted by Ivo Nunes, the project’s main developer, but thanks to the magical open-source development system, the project was restarted by one of the project’s fans. The project is now being worked on, and we may soon have Birdie 2.0 (Out of the Nest – Birdie 2.0).

However, it works on other distributions with different environments. Users of other distributions can install it using binaries, while Ubuntu-based distros can use Adilson’s PPA, an unofficial PPA.
